Asia Container Volumes up 16% at JAXPORT
[ May 16, 2016 // Gary G Burrows ]The Port of Jacksonville, or JAXPORT, recorded a 16% growth in Asian container shipments during the first six months of FY 2016 over the same period last year, moving 157,689 TEUS compared to 135,429 TEUS in FY2015.
JAXPORT’s fiscal year runs October 1 through September 30.
The Asian container trade is the fastest growing segment of JAXPORT’s container cargo business, accounting for 33% of the business in the first six months of FY 2016 up from 31 % the same period in FY 2015 and just 7% in FY 2014.
The port has recorded an average of 28.5% annual growth in Asian container volumes during the past five years.
