Bahri highlights growing presence in U.S. at Breakbulk Americas 2018
[ October 29, 2018 // Gary G Burrows ]Highlighting its growing presence in the U.S., Bahri, a global leader in logistics and transportation, represented by Bahri Logistics, one of the company’s business units, participated at Breakbulk Americas 2018, the largest exhibition for the project cargo and breakbulk industry in the region, held from October 2-4 in Houston, Texas.
The three-day event attracted a number of visitors and exhibitors, including specialized ocean carriers, freight forwarders, ports and terminals, logistics providers, export packers, and road, rail, barge and air transportation companies, among many others. The highly-anticipated exhibition, which is considered a strategic meeting point for executives from leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), oil and gas, and petrochemicals project owners, and top industrial manufacturers, saw Bahri showcasing its industry-leading maritime transportation capabilities and innovation-driven logistics solutions.
Ahmed Al-Ghaith, President, Bahri Logistics, said: “Bahri has entered a new phase of growth and the roadmap for its future hinges on sustained expansion in regional and international markets and strengthening of maritime transportation capabilities. The strong recovery of the global economy and the rising growth in emerging and transition markets are presenting bright prospects and new opportunities for Bahri and the transportation industry in general, with the Americas remaining a key growth market.”
Stephen Blowers, Senior Country Manager, Bahri Logistics, said: “we are pleased to participate at the Breakbulk Americas 2018 and showcase our project shipping and logistics services. The Americas have been at the center of global maritime trade, thus remaining a key focus market for Bahri, and Bahri Logistics in particular. Over the years, we have cemented our position in the market with our continued expansion, complemented with our unequaled capabilities and service offerings.”
Blowers added: “Breakbulk Americas 2018 serves as an excellent opportunity for us to connect with our valued customers, industry stakeholders and partners and highlight our cutting-edge project cargo transportation and logistics solutions to industry peers and potential customers in order to help drive our growth journey further.”
Emphasizing the importance of the region in Bahri’s long-term growth strategy, Bahri Logistics highlighted its continued expansion in this market. The business unit opened its second North American office in 2017, in Granite Briarpark Green in Houston, which has helped Bahri complement its U.S. headquarters in Baltimore and further strengthen its presence and position in the country’s largest breakbulk and general cargo port, the Port of Houston.
Bahri Logistics has been calling the port for over three decades and is one of the few companies offering a full-liner multipurpose ro-ro, breakbulk and containerized service from the East Coast and Gulf Coast ports of the U.S. and Canada to the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, with way ports in the Mediterranean and Europe. The unit’s six state-of-the-art 26,000-DWT RoRoCon vessels are specially designed to carry breakbulk, project, and ro-ro cargoes, including heavyweight and over-dimensional loads up to 220 metric tons.
Earlier in 2018, Bahri Logistics reached a new milestone as its Bahri Hofuf vessel discharged the heaviest piece of cargo that Bahri’s vessels have ever handled. A floating crane was deployed to assist with moving the cargo weighing 266 MT to a barge at the Port of Houston.
