Dozens of massive Caterpillar Excavators move through JAXPORT

[ February 7, 2019   //   ]

More than 120 Caterpillar Excavators and related parts recently moved through one of two specialty Ro-Ro berths at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal. The Excavators, each weighing an average of 24 metric tons, totaled more than 6 million pounds of cargo.

The high and heavy equipment was imported by U.S. flag ocean carrier Liberty Global Logistics, with Hansen Shipping Agency, Inc. serving as the freight forwarder.

The Caterpillars were driven off the ship individually and moved to JAXPORT’s dedicated high and heavy staging area immediately adjacent to the berth.

The equipment will be loaded onto specialized trailers and transported to major Caterpillar distributors through the Southeast U.S by Hansen Specialized Transportation, the domestic transport division of Hansen Shipping Agency, Inc.
