North American Rail Traffic Fall
[ July 9, 2020 // Gary G Burrows ]North American rail traffic fell 4.9% the week ending July 4, marking the smallest weekly decline since February, helped by gains in U.S. intermodal volume, data from the Association of American Railroads showed.
Carload volume fell 12.5% for the week ended July 4 on 12 reporting U.S., Canadian and Mexican railroads, while intermodal traffic rose 2.9%, the trade group said Wednesday.
In the week ended June 27, North American rail traffic fell 14.3%. For the first 27 weeks of the year, North American traffic is now down 11.8%, compared with a year-to-date drop of 12% reported a week earlier.
