It is a path where we learn to heal from our past mistakes, make amends, and rebuild our lives. Prioritizing recovery means that we are actively choosing to let go of the pain and destructive habits that held us back. It is an empowering decision that leads to a newfound sense of freedom and joy. In life, there are numerous challenges we face that can throw us off course. However, there is a path that can lead us to endless joy, redemption, and recovery.
Even the little things can make your day – a smile, nice weather, sharing at a AA/NA meeting. Purposefully noticing moments of happiness will sustain you during the difficult times, whether you’re in or out of one of our treatment centers. Even more importantly, you will learn to track how far you have come in recovery from your substance use disorders. Staying positive is easier when you know that you are continuing to progress.
How Do You Become Sober?
I choose to experience the high of sobriety and the rewards it offers,
through a clear head and rational thought. I experience the reward of realizing that this moment,
I have won the overcoming battles of this day. Combined power that can not be overcome and can not be defeated.
Building a support network can take time, but the efforts are worth the benefits of having the right people in your life for your sobriety journey. Building a support network is one of the best things you can do to build a strong foundation for sober living. Fostering a grateful heart in sobriety is a crucial aspect of recovery.
A Prayer for Emotional and Mental Stability
However, life really does get a thousand times better if you stay sober. If you, a family member, or someone you love is struggling with addiction, please know, there’s more to life than drugs and alcohol abuse. The truth is that getting sober is possible, but it is challenging to do it alone.

Instead of isolating and giving into feeling bad, reach out and connect with others who might be going through the same thing. Go to a 12-step meeting, find a sober group online, or call a sober friend who understands. When something doesn’t naturally interest you, you may perceive it as boring, irrelevant, or uncomfortable. This is because of your intrinsic motivation—motivation based on the inherent satisfaction of the activity rather than the desire for a reward or specific outcome. Different from extrinsic motivation—engaging in a behavior to earn an external reward—intrinsic motivation comes from within, and the outcomes satisfy your psychological needs.

There are many actions that can be taken to practice gratitude that you can use in your recovery. Eventually, my way around the constant depression and anxiety was to start getting high.
The process of recovery leads us to connect honestly with people in a way that is so therapeutic. Part of recovery is to learn to identify how we feel, and how to express it. When we’re at the top of our game, addictions like workaholism, or living glued to our phones, seem like part of the success. Sometimes we hear so much about high addiction rates we start to think there’s no one recovering, but that is simply not true. It might take more than one try, but those are pretty good odds.
In my sober life, I share my problems, fears, and triumphs honestly. That’s the most significant blessing about getting sober – the ability to look at the world in the eye. Long before I picked up a drink or drug, my life was out of control. I had a ton of friends, good grades, played sports, and I even volunteered. Instead, look for opportunities to savor the small pleasures of everyday life. It could be considered a chore or task, but I savored the candid conversation and enjoyed her company on our drive together.
Grant them the resilience and perseverance to overcome challenges and temptations. In your grace, may they find freedom from enabling relationships and experience a renewed sense of self. Help them establish healthy boundaries and make choices that promote their well-being and the well-being of their loved ones. Show them the path You have prepared for them, where they can make a positive impact on others and experience a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
Having come through treatment and being in recovery, you’re learning new things about yourself each and every day. Tomorrow is full of hope and promise – two more blessings that you now have in recovery. There most certainly are, and they are unique to you. Muse about them for a bit, and give yourself kudos for all that you have already achieved in your recovery. Then, go out and embrace the new opportunities that will reveal themselves to you today, tomorrow, and all the days after that.
