Davies Turner, GBP Shift into High Gear

[ October 2, 2024   //   ]

Great British Sports Cars’ continuing logistics partnership with Davies Turner saw the British freight and logistics services provider recently handle the shipment of two of the car manufacturer’s iconic Zero vehicles from the UK to the U.S.
GBS, a British car manufacturer specializing in the production of high-quality, handcrafted sports cars, offers a range of fully built vehicles, customizable kits, and an innovative EV model, catering to enthusiasts who appreciate the blend of classic design and modern engineering.
The Zero is a beefed-up version of Colin Chapman’s Lotus Seven/Caterham silhouette. The two cars were recently shipped in kit form and carefully packed in bespoke crating prior to shipment, to ensure they arrive in perfect condition and ready for final assembly.
The cars are crated and moved on curtain-sided vehicles from the production site in Nottingham to one of Davies Turner’s hubs, before the crates are consolidated in a container and transported to the port for shipment by sea.
Since their first collaboration in 2021, Davies Turner has effectively managed numerous shipments per year of GBS’s handcrafted sports cars, fully built, or in kit form, in full containerload and less-than-containerload shipments mainly to North America. In providing seamless logistics support from the UK factory floor to the customer’s door, the forwarder also expedites the urgent shipment of parts and spares via airfreight.
“Working with GBS has been a remarkable journey,” said Derek Shepley, sales executive at Davies Turner. “Its dedication to craftsmanship and innovation in the automotive industry is inspiring. We are proud to support its expansion into the North American and other global markets and look forward to continuing our partnership as its business grows.”
Richard Hall, director of Great British Sports Cars added: “As GBS continues to expand, it is looking at new destination opportunities globally. The supply chain management expertise of Davies Turner, and its robust international logistics network supports our efforts to meet increasing international demand for our company’s sports cars.”
