Geodis opens airside freight handling gateway at Schiphol
[ July 19, 2019 // Gary G Burrows ]GEODIS Netherlands announced the opening of its new Airside Gateway at Schiphol, which represents the beginning of a faster and safer way of airfreight handling. Time is precious to customers and their demand for the quick delivery of goods is increasingly important. The Gateway being located airside will help meet these demands and at the same time enhance security. GEODIS Netherlands in reacting to a tremendous growth in volumes has introduced its Amsterdam Gateway to further accelerate this expansion while anticipating the demands of the future market.
The GEODIS Amsterdam Gateway (AMS-GTW) comprises 2500 m2 of warehouse and office space directly next to the airport’s runway. Ellis de Jong, Operations Director Freight Forwarding: “We estimate that Gateway will bring a significant decrease in airfreight handling times, ensuring quicker delivery of cargo and a better service to our customers. Export wise, with Gateway we gain more efficiencies on the consolidation side.”
The Amsterdam Gateway is part of the long-term growth strategy of GEODIS, in which innovation is a key element. Thomas Kraus, President & CEO North, East and Central Europe says: “The opening of the Amsterdam Gateway is the next important step in both our regional planning and in our global growth ambitions.
