Horizon Global Selects Kansas City Region for New Distribution Center

[ July 27, 2017   //   ]

Horizon Global, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of branded towing and trailering equipment, today announced that it is nearing completion on a new 512,000-sq.-ft. distribution facility in Edgerton, Kansas, that is expected to create more than 120 new jobs.

“Our company conducted a freight management and distribution study and, ultimately, selected Edgerton as an ideal location for the center of our North American distribution operations,” said Ron Dill, director of Operations and Logistics, Horizon Global. “When the Edgerton facility begins shipping to Horizon Global customers by the end of the year, it will provide improved delivery times and service levels for our aftermarket and retail customers, while also providing savings to the company through a more efficient distribution platform.”

The new Edgerton facility will be the main hub for the company’s Horizon Global Americas Division, consolidating distribution into a more centrally located and larger facility, while simultaneously upgrading distribution operations through automation and technology. The Edgerton location is part of the company’s larger distribution strategy and will be supported by strategically placed regional distribution facilities throughout the United States.

Horizon Global’s new Edgerton facility will be located at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKS), a 1,700-acre master-planned distribution and warehouse development anchored by BNSF Railway’s newest intermodal facility.

“The Kansas City region continues to stand out as an ideal location for centralizing distribution in the U.S. and North America,” said Chris Gutierrez, president of KC SmartPort, an affiliate of the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC). “We are proud to welcome Horizon Global and its Americas Division to the Kansas City region and look forward to seeing their continued growth in our market.”
