New data requirements for inbound/transfer cargo to or through the EU

[ August 3, 2023   //   ]

Effective June 27, 2023, United Cargo began enforcing new customs requirements to comply with the European Union’s Import Control System 2 (EU-ICS2), a new, large-scale customs electronic import system intended to enhance safety initiatives and simplify information exchanges.
Air freight shipments traveling to or through the EU, Switzerland, Norway, and Northern Ireland, will now require new information prior to shipping. The air waybill (AWB), consolidation manifest, or FWB/FHL messages for all MAWBs and HAWBs will need to include the following information to remain in compliance with EU-ICS2:
• The 6-digit Harmonized Commodity Codes (HS Codes) of the inbound goods on HAWB level, and on AWB level for direct shipments.
• EU Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) Number of the EU consignee – where assigned on HAWB level and on AWB level for direct shipments.
If customers do not provide the information above, we will be unable to accept their shipments. For self-filers: if you have elected or are planning to self-file directly to customs authorities, contact us as soon as possible to review the additional steps required to avoid shipping disruptions.
