Port of Los Angeles Former Harbor Commission Passes

Jaime L. Lee, President, Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners, issued this statement on May 13:

“The Port of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners are saddened to hear of the passing of S. David Freeman, a pioneer for environmental advocacy. As president of the Harbor Commission from 2005-2009, Freeman and his fellow commissioners partnered with the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners and took unprecedented action by approving the landmark San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan at the first-ever joint public meeting of the two boards on November 20, 2006. The Clean Air Action Plan provides a comprehensive strategy for reducing air emissions from port operations—establishing a benchmark and standard for air quality we are still committed to today.”
