Savage Terminal Serves Las Vegas Market

[ August 21, 2024   //   ]

Supply chain infrastructure and solutions provider Savage said it is developing a new multicommodity, rail-connected transload terminal to serve the Las Vegas market.

The Las Vegas transload facility will be in Jean, Nevada, and served by the Union Pacific Railroad. Savage anticipates moving various fuels and industrial commodities through the terminal, connecting supply chains by transloading freight between trucks and railcars.

The Nevada transload facility will strengthen Savage’s growing transload network of terminals. Savage also operates a transload terminal in Elko, Nevada.

Mike Miller, senior vice president of business development, said the new transload facility “will reduce shippers’ logistics costs and support economic development for Southern Nevada communities by attracting investment from rail-centric industries. “By providing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly rail alternative to long-haul trucking, the transload terminal will also help reduce the number of trucks on the road.”

Savage is working with local authorities and agencies to advance the rezoning and permitting that needs to be completed for this project.
